I finally gave Rootmurth some color :)

One of the things I work on at Monobanda is corporate design. My colleague Niki Smit and I designed a lot of possible logos and we finally came up with one that is now used as the companies main logo. However we all felt that this logo is more of a starting point than really a definite one. The house style of Monobanda will therefore evolve over time, although the color scheme and shapes will stay recognizable and the font will stay the same.

Control magazine also asked me to design the cover for the new edition of October 2008. The coverstory is about Mobile Games and I used that theme to create a scene with old Fonn characters and new ones to express mobility and the chance to reach out of the iPhone and play.

Niki Smit designed the coverstory spread in the center of that issue of Control. The last page contains short info about us and about Monobanda.

Fonn and OXO (graduation project of Simon van der Linden) were shown at the Holland Innovation convention at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht, Wednesday the 8th of October. The convention was a great opportunity to show our work and get in contact with inventive companies and people and tell them about Monobanda.

Dutch game magazine Control asked me if they could implement artwork of Fonn in their “Dutch Games go Global” brochure. This brochure is aimed at international companies to promote the highlights of the Dutch game industry.

Next to the flash compilation I made earlier, I uploaded a short video clip of Fonn at the graduation expo with some ingame footage. Music by Matthijs Goedhart ;)

Today I found the wedding invitation card I designed for Ineke & Rogier on my doormat :) I am very happy with the end result. The card also came with a sweet surprise for me; a stamp with the two main characters!

Journalist Herien Wensink featured my project “Fonn” in an article about art & games for the Dutch news paper “NRC Handelsblad”. Friday the first of August the article appeared in the Cultural Supplement of the NRC. I like how Herien discribed my installation and I was amazed at how big the pictures were. I am really proud :) (The article also appeared in “NRC Next” the 4th of August with the same text but other pictures of my artwork.)

I was asked to design the wedding invitation card + flyer for the wedding party of Ineke (Erik’s sister) & Rogier. I decided to make a scenery of two characters where a boy flies to a girl that’s on a castle on the highest top of the highest tree on the peak of the highest tower. The particular castle is Slot Zuylen, where they are to be married in October. The only resemblance to Ineke & Rogier is the colour of their hair (she is a blond and he is a redhead) :P The front of the wedding card is the scene where they fly away together on the flying beastie. They are “stepping into the boat” as we say in Dutch :P
